Casa Meeting Room
Admission is free - cash bar on site

The Trap\door artist-run centre and the Gallery at Casa are excited to announce the inaugural Artists Talk event, hosted at Casa on Friday, October 6th.

Jamie Hume's presentation is titled "You Don't Have to Like Camu to be an Existentialist." Her work addresses the creative process as a confluence of intuitive, technical, and emotional intelligences. She will be discussing her 40 year art pratice by sharing groupings of works in a variety of two and three dimensional formats.

April Matisz will be discussing her landscape paintings and drawings, which are influenced by ecological theory and scientific methodologies. She will also discuss her more recent works, which investigate cultural narratives and personal experiences of motherhood.

Doors open at 7:00 pm. Presentations begin at 7:15. A social will follow until 10:00 pm. There will be a cash bar.

Artists Talk is a presentation series and social event organized by Trap\door artist-run centre and supported by the Gallery at Casa.

Held once a month, each event will consist of two or three twenty minute presentations by local artists. They will introduce their practice, consider important themes in their work, and open a conversation about contemporary art in Lethbridge. The presentations will be followed by drinks, music, and a chance to socialize.

Artists Talk is an opportunity for the presenters to share their work with a critical and supportive group of peers. For the audience, it’s a chance to see what motivates contemporary art practice in Lethbridge, to share ideas, and to discuss issues raised by the presentations in a casual, social setting. It’ll be fun!
