AiR – Intro to Drag

Friday, May 23, 2025, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Registration ends May 23rd, 2025

Are you looking for a fun and supportive environment to learn drag performance skills, try new characters, and explore your playful curiosity? Then this is the class for you! Whether you have always wanted to create a persona or are totally new to drag, Aritst in Residence Poppy Puffter will teach you the foundations for building a well-rounded performance including character development, choreography, rehearsal techniques, and stage presence.

Poppy Puffter has been a practicing drag artist for 4 years, performing in numerous shows and productions for a diversity of audiences. While in Lethbridge she produced her own drag show under Babes & Brews and considers herself an emerging artist/producer. Poppy’s practice tells a story of queer experiences through the use of spoken word and song, accompanied by props, costumes, make up, reveals, movement and acting. She is now based in Montreal, Quebec.

During her residency she's developing a “one woman show” that explores her own personal journey of childhood and queer identity, while playing with themes of shame, guilt, joy, and love (self, romantic, platonic).

Come to her Performance in the Community Room on Thursday, May 29 from at 7:30 pm to see what she's created during her stay at Casa!
