AP – Everything Rail Spikes
Saturday, July 25, 2026, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Registration ends July 25th, 2026
Take the next step in your blacksmithing journey, improve upon your processes of drawing out, upsetting, bending & twisting, and punching & slitting. Transform 2 – 3 rail spikes, depending on skill level, into projects such as bottle openers, steak flippers, and gardening tools. Blacksmithing is the ancient craft of heating metal in a forge, typically iron or steel, until it’s red-hot and pliable, and then shaping it into functional and decorative objects using hammers, anvils, tongs, and other tools.
Participants need to wear close-toed shoes (preferably leather boots), pants and long sleeved-shirts made of organic materials (such as cotton, linen, or wool). There will be a break at midday; registrants are encouraged to pack lunch, snacks and a water bottle. Basic Blacksmithing, or an equivalent experience, is recommended to take this course. Materials provided.
