Intro to Printmaking: Intaglio and Relief

Create highly detailed prints learning intaglio (engraving) techniques, including drypoint and aquatint. Experiment with different surfaces, learn how to prepare copper plates from start to finish, and do chine collé. Cover the basics of relief printmaking through single-colour prints, and practice more advanced techniques like jigsaw and reduction. You’ll have the opportunity to try different carving mediums, like Speedycarve, linoleum, and wood. Learn how to set the press and create a registration system, while understanding best practices for the studio in a supportive environment.
