A Capella Allusions – Eve Ford

A life long passion for art in various forms is what influences and shapes my artwork. Throughout my early years, I was surrounded by music and art in my family. When I wasn’t singing with my sisters and brothers, I was sketching, and coloring. Music and art dominated our lives growing up in Southern Alberta. My love of art includes singing, fashion design and modelling. I was in the beauty and fashion industry for a greater part of my working career. I’ve translated these life experiences into my style of art. In 2012 when I moved back to my beginnings in Lethbridge after many years living in larger Canadian cities. I had the time to further explore my inner world of colour and vivid imagination. My art reflects the merging fragments of my past life to my present experiences that sculpt and shape my identity. While past events have contributed to my strength and confidence, there are some painful remnants left on my soul that must be expressed and released. Making art is my Joy, therapy and healing. My style is colourful and bold with no apologies, nor with any concern for the perfect art style. I lean toward Intuitive Abstract, which reflects how I conduct my life, with intuition and a sense of deep knowing. I’ve chosen acrylics and occasionally alcohol inks because of the fluidity of both mediums, and I feel at ease implementing strong detailing as well as loose brush strokes. I have always thought outside the box, and I express that in my paintings. Without love, music and nature, our lives are hollow and I will paint with these values in mind for as long as I am able. Upon completion, each piece serves as a dialogue between me the artist and my viewers, and we can share our emotional responses and viewpoints on how we are affected by the art. What I aim for is emotional expressionism and hopefully shared appreciation and joy. I spend many hours each week in my downtown studio where I have the reception room filled with my recent work. You can will find my work posted on instagram @evezartist if you wish to contact me for further viewings.
