Cloud Cover

Cloud Cover – Andrew Rabyniuk
September 11 – October 23, 2021
Please note the opening celebration for this exhibition will be September 25 at 7:00pm during Arts Days

Cloud Cover is a series of schematic images representing the weather in Lethbridge on the afternoon of October 22, 2020.

Time lapse images from a weather satellite tracking the movement of clouds across the prairies and parts of the northern United States were converted to a simple binary diagram between sky and cloud. The changes in pattern from one image to the next indicate the passage of time and fluctuations in atmospheric conditions. Lethbridge is in the centre of each image. As a set, the images are an observational reduction of something that defines the everyday.

Andrew Rabyniuk is a multidisciplinary artist and writer. He has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions across the country. From 2017 – 2019 he co-organized events and exhibitions as a member of Trap/door Artist-run Centre, a local non-profit initiative dedicated to the promotion of contemporary visual art in Lethbridge. He has received support from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Canada Council for the Arts.
