Let there be Light – Lethbridge Photo Club

Let there be Light – Lethbridge Photo Club

Opening Reception:

Saturday, January 24, 2026 – Music and refreshments from 7pm – 9pm.

The gallery will be open from 5pm – 9pm that evening as part of the Gallery Hop with LA Gallery 2.0, Trianon Gallery, the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, and Legend Art Gallery.

Light is the photographer’s first language. It reveals, conceals, sculpts and transforms. In Let There Be Light, members of the Lethbridge Photography Club come together to explore this elemental force – its subtleties, its power, and the endless ways it shapes how we see the world.

Today’s Lethbridge Photography Club traces its roots to the historic “Colour Camera Club”, one of the original members of the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge founded in 1958. Continuing this long-standing tradition of photographic community, the club welcomes members from all photographic disciplines, hosts monthly meetings at the CASA Community Art Centre and organizes workshops, field trips, and educational segments for its members.

In this Let There Be Light exhibit, twenty club members bring forth their diverse photographic perspectives and a shared spirit of curiosity.  Whether the light moves across landscapes, abstracts, or everyday scenes, each photographer engages in a personal act of seeing. Soft hues, stark shadows or fleeting reflections, each become a moment of discovery, inviting the viewer to pause, look closer, and encounter beauty in its various forms.

Together we celebrate not only the finished images but the practice of “seeing” – of being present, patient, and open to what the light reveals.
