This year marks a special milestone: the 25th anniversary of the City of Lethbridge Tartan, a unique design created by the Lethbridge Weavers and registered by the Guild with the Scottish Tartan Society in 2000.
The Lethbridge Weavers are delighted to exhibit the Lethbridge Tartan at Casa November 8 from 7pm – 9pm. A collection of provincial tartans are included in this display.
The journey of the City of Lethbridge Tartan began in January 1998, when the Guild passed a motion to design an official tartan reflecting the city’s crest colours. After months of research, collaboration, and creativity, the Guild presented the project to City Council in October 1998, earning their approval. Over the following year, Guild members proposed at least 16 designs and wove samples, ultimately selecting the final tartan by consensus in 1999.
