Ryan Puchalski – Blue Resonance

This work is a series of abstract illustrations combined with photography. Art has the flexibility to calm, anger, inspire and disrupt the viewer. I want try to disorient the viewer such that a dreamscape of the impossible becomes possible. I have preference for industrial or urban scenery as subjects for illustration. Natural landscapes change little, it is the human domain that chronicles human progress and changes quickly. When portrayed in the right light and instant they too can have a aura of majesty. A camera sees light different than the human eye. It can misinterprets light and as light is the basis of color, spontaneous compositions can arise. natural color from light is bright it adds a width of spectrum beyond what is attainable from pigment and provides dimension. Reflective and refractive elements of light and objects are often explored. I like to use bright color to draw the viewer from afar then draw them in further when the detail emerges. elements of overlaid perspective and symmetry are employed to add continuity to broken and shattered lines.

Ryan Puchalski is an artist born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta. He graduated with a BFA from the University of Lethbridge in 2014 and has since gone on to exhibit artwork in several solo and group exhibitions throughout Alberta.
