Join us for this exciting exhibition and event series opening. There will be art, there will be performance, there will be refreshments, there will be … feelings!

Waking Death is an invitational exhibition organized by the Waking Death Collective with the collaboration of the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge. Bringing together new and existing works by diverse artists in a range of media, the exhibition explores themes of death, dying and grief through a polyphonic array of voices.  The Waking Death Collective is Annie Martin, Shanell Papp, and Mia Van Leeuwen).

As part of the opening event at Casa on September 9th, there will be a Waking Death Parade Procession to kick off the event series! Dreamt up and facilitated by Mia van Leeuwen in collaboration with Shanell Papp, Annie Martin, Julia Wasilewski, Jaime Johnson, Kathy Zaborsky, Gabrielle Houle, Nicola Elson, Oluseyi Dada, Anastasia Siceac — and an amazing team of volunteers — we will bring artistic ceremony and song to this event series with a parade open to the public to join!

There is also an extensive event series running through September and October: www.wakingdeath.ca
