Wild Abandon – Bev Mazurick
Wild Abandon embodies a joyful exploration of visual expression. Departing from the delicate realm of watercolour, these renderings of wildflowers burst forth with vibrant colour and exuberant energy. Texture takes centre stage, achieved through the layering of oil and cold wax, adding depth and dimension to each piece.
Conceived as a contemporary ode to life and creativity amidst the dark days of Covid, these paintings radiate a spirit of celebration. While wildflowers have long been central to my artistic practice—depicted in traditional watercolour on paper or hand-painted on fabric—this series marks a departure into expressive new techniques.
My intimate familiarity with wildflower forms and colours became a springboard for experimentation and innovation. Each painting transforms into a dynamic canvas for exploration, inviting viewers to share in a journey of discovery and delight.
