Upside Downtown Concert – Mom Bod and Fawns
Upside Downtown Concert – Mom Bod and Fawns
The Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge (AAC) is excited to announce the return of the successful Upside Downtown Concert, bringing free outdoor music to Downtown Lethbridge. Performances will take place on Rotary Square in front of Casa every Thursday in July and August from 5-7 pm. This summer, the series promises an exciting lineup of local talent, making it the perfect way to enjoy warm, shaded, evenings with friends and family. The concerts are free to attend and feature a licensed area for those wishing to enjoy a beverage while soaking in the music. A food truck will also be on-site during the performances.
The Upside Downtown Concert series aims to create a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere where music lovers of all ages can come together and enjoy high-quality live performances. An exciting addition this year will be the curated art presentation “Roots/Route” by Be.Trit featuring a mobile sculpture on the square as well as additional artwork presented within artist kiosks on site.
Upside Downtown is made possible thanks to the generous support of our community-minded sponsors including:
MomBod:
MomBod plays rock ‘n’ roll: a little bit noisy, a little bit soft, a little bit wild… kinda like our kids. Drawing influences from lots of places, MomBod is often described as having a 90s alternative rock sound mixed with punk, jangle pop, and Riot Grrrrrl, and draws comparisons to Babes in Toyland, Hole, and L7.
Fawns:
Fawns bio: Eclectic Lethbridge alt-rock made by and for weirdos — Fawns emerged in 2016 from the heart of Lethbridge, AB. As a queer-fronted band, fawns seeks to promote authenticity and individuality. Channeling a nostalgic mix of alternative and progressive rock onto the stage, they weave together tones and emotions that evoke the mischief and loneliness of growing up in a small, conservative town during the 90s. At their core, they are advocates for mental health and addiction awareness. Their music delves into themes of existentialism, the trials of growing up in the lower middle class, and the profound journey of embracing one’s identity as an outcast. Through melodies and lyrics, fawns invite listeners to join them in exploring the complexities of the human experience.
