This professional development session provides a practical overview of the Canadian arts funding landscape and the major types of grants available to artists and arts workers. Participants will learn effective strategies for building strong applications, common pitfalls to avoid, and how grant juries assess and prioritize submissions. Using real grant application examples, the session will demonstrate successful approaches to project descriptions, budgets and support materials while addressing participant questions in real time. The session also explores the emerging use of AI in grant writing, outlining potential benefits, limitations and ethical considerations to help participants use these tools thoughtfully and effectively.
