“A little girl four years old says she knows what drawing is; you just think something and run a line around your think” I love this! It is so simple and so true.
I not only draw, I also paint with acrylics, and love creating collage and mixed media art. Some of my art projects include: bookcases, chairs, canvases, manikins, abstract sculptures, picture frames, trinket boxes, decorative bowls, plant pots and electric switch plates.
As an artist I am essentially interested in creating pieces that call for the participation of you, the observer, to the same extent as my involvement in creating them. I love everything about “The Process” of envisaging and designing something new that has never been looked upon before! Much of my work is very detailed. I am always strongly inspired by colors and patterns in the natural world. I want and love people to be drawn into the Magic of the Mystery of Art.
About one hundred years ago Pablo Picasso said, “Everything you can imagine is real” and this has become my personal creed.
My name is Jacquie Beattie and I am a self taught abstract artist living in Lethbridge Alberta. I have been interested in art since I was a small child, but only in the last couple of years can I call myself an artist, after retiring from Vancouver Island and my career there.
When I was young I sketched mostly portraits, but I also dabbled in drawing animals and pen & ink fantasy plants and designs. And I loved doing collage work as well. I still do some portraits, but they are mostly abstract. For the past few years I have been having fun with my collage projects and experimenting with acrylic painting.
Artists that influenced me in my childhood and to this day are Renaissance artists like Albrecht Durer, Leonardo da Vinci and other contemporary and abstract artists such as MC Escher, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Jean Miro and Hilma af Klint.
As Gustav Klimt said, “Whoever wants to know something about me . . . . ought to look carefully at my pictures.”
Currently I am working out of my studio in my home.
