AiR Emma Brack Naveiras – Open House & Artist Talk

AiR Emma Brack Naveiras – Open House & Artist Talk
Join us for an Open House and Artist Talk with AiR Emma Brack Naveiras!
Emma Brack Naveiras is a multidisciplinary artist who has been working in our Clay Studio and 2D Studio.
Naveiras’ proposed project encompasses a series of sculptures in bitumen sourced from northern Alberta and locally sourced clay, and bitumen paintings on chiffon. The project explores bitumen as a material within its art historical use for binding, and its destructive role in the current moment in history. The project is anchored in ongoing explorations into extinction and modes of survival, ecological and cultural, with an interest in historical multiplicity through parallel narratives that have been ignored, silenced or under-represented.
