Bad Places, Pretty Faces – Joshua Makorto

I have always wondered if there is something beyond me in the universe—something unknown, waiting to be discovered. What might they look like? Where would they go? What would they see? These questions fuel my imagination and inspire my work. I use precise line work and a careful eye for detail to craft images that evoke a digital, almost printed quality. Travel on the infinity loop between digital and traditional, and embrace the unknown.

Josh Makorto is an emerging artist based in Lethbridge, originally from Revelstoke, BC. He is a self-taught artist specializing in colour theory and composition. His work is characterized by clean line work and meticulous attention to detail, aiming to create paintings with a digital aesthetic that resemble printed images. He works exclusively with flat acrylics on canvas and wood, a medium he has honed over the past eight years.
