Flora & Fauna – Isabel Robertson

I painted my first bird while in hospital, being treated for bipolar disorder.  As I was released I felt free.  This feeling has remained as well as my fascination with birds and all living things.  Getting outside is good for the soul.  Through my artwork, I try to bring the outside in.  Working in acrylic on canvas, I try to capture my subject matter as it appears to me.

Bio:

Isabel Robertson captures the awe-inspiring beauty of birds and plants in her realistic paintings.  As much as she enjoys working in acrylic, she loves working in conte and charcoal when doing portraits and figure drawing.  She began drawing at a young age and had attended the foundation year at ACAD.  Although most of her work is realistic, she is enjoying exploring other types of art as well.  She was commissioned and completed an abstract and whimsical mural for the Child Development Building in Calgary, AB in 2007.

This exhibition is supported by funding from the City of Lethbridge Public Art Percent for Art program.
