Have you ever thought about Dinosaurs? – Gesiah Leyva Gonzalez

Have you ever thought about Dinosaurs? – Gesiah Leyva Gonzalez

Opening Reception: Saturday, November 8, 2025, 7pm – 9pm

In Have you ever thought about Dinosaurs?, I revisit one of my oldest fascinations: dinosaurs. These sculptures, Dominique, Maximus, Echoes of the Allosaurus, and pocket Pals, emerge from that lifelong curiosity about what remains after time passes. Each piece plays with the idea of transformation, memory, and imagination, how something ancient can still feel alive through the act of creation.

I’ve always believed that art doesn’t need to take itself too seriously to hold meaning. These works invite a kind of joyful reflection, where humor and reverence meet in the same breath. Through form, texture, and scale, I explore the space between fossil and fantasy, where the echoes of the past become something new, something playful, and a little bit ghostly.

Have you ever thought about dinosaurs? Because I have. And this is what they left behind.

Gesiah is a multimedia artist currently based in Lethbridge, Alberta, originally from Colombia. Their work spans graphic design, digital art, animation, sculpture, and printmaking. Blending humor, curiosity, and a fascination with transformation, Gesiah creates pieces that invite both joy and reflection. Their practice often features playful nods to childhood memories, especially dinosaurs, while exploring the balance between creativity, connection, and everyday wonder.
