Kick Off a New Tradition at Sonic Fest
Mark your calendar for the inaugural Sonic Fest, a brand-new celebration of live local music taking over Rotary Square at Casa on Friday, August 28, 2026. This free, all-ages event launches at 5:00 pm, with live music beginning at 6:00 pm.
The first-ever Sonic Fest features an incredible lineup of local talent, including Shy Friend, The Reset, Howells, and Astrology Girl. Between sets, enjoy delicious eats from local food trucks and refreshments from the on-site licensed bar while soaking up the energy of a late summer evening in downtown Lethbridge.

Band Bio – SHY FRiEND:
SHY FRiEND is what happens when a queer, prairie-based, chronically-online & toxically self-determined artist faces the realities of the music industry in late-stage capitalism. It’s brutally honest, tragically dramatic, & full of feminine rage. SHY FRiEND has been turning the Alberta music scene into a space for the queer, alt, pop & punk misfits to share in while experiencing the sonic equivalent of their mantra “TO BE CRINGE IS TO BE FREE”.
Stepping foot into the audience at a SHY FRiEND concert is like entering a gay bar on Halloween. There’s always a theme – whether it be as simple as “beach party” or as interpretive as “Rainforest Cafe” the band is dressed to the nines – and you can always spot a SHY FRiEND fan in the audience by their theme-inspired outfit. SHY FRiEND is a powerhouse of sass & passion, with each member hooting, hollering, and dancing up a storm on stage (and oftentimes jumping into the crowd to be a part of the party!) The energy that SHY FRiEND gives off bleeds into the audience with screaming contests, mosh pits, singalongs and call & responses creating a synergetic environment akin to a secular punk rock church.

Howells are a heavy alternative band blending gothic emo and post-hardcore into something part hymn, part breakdown. 🕯️ Welcome to the world of Halocore 🕯️

Band Bio – Astrology Girl:
Astrology Girl is an energetic emo collective from southern Alberta. Bridging the gap between Midwest emo and Warped Tour scene punk, the band brings a nostalgic and diverse selection of songs via its self titled EP released in June 2024. Strap in for an abundance of sad chords for pit villains.
